Summary Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, Airport Maintenance Technicians perform regular maintenance of Airport assets and other tasks assigned to them with a high priority for workplace safety.
Essential Functions - Performs hangar and building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing and HVAC troubleshooting and repairs.
- Performs preventative maintenance as scheduled on gates, hangar doors, and other applications.
- Operates all equipment related to the maintenance and repairs of airport infrastructure to include, but not limited to pavements, building systems, lighting, signs, markings, and gates.
- Performs all tasks related to the repair and maintenance of Addison Airport facilities.
- Responds to, prioritizes, and completes work orders utilizing computerized work order system
- Performs required daily inspection on weekends/holidays, when on call and when needed.
- Responds when on call to all Alert 3 aircraft accidents
- Provides On-call rotation for after-hour repairs and emergencies.
- Communicates with Air Traffic Control Tower (ATC) as needed to access movement areas.
- Performs welding/structural repairs as assigned/needed.
- Under supervision, assists in inspections and repairs of airfield lighting, including the entire lighting system from regulators to changing bulbs.
- Performs hangar door maintenance to ensure the smooth operation of doors
- Performs maintenance on small mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other small equipment.
- Uses a variety of hand and power tools as related to the repair and maintenance of the airport.
- Performs airfield mowing and general lawn maintenance.
- Assists in the repair of ramps and apron pavements.
- Performs snow and ice removal as needed.
- Picks up Foreign Object Debris (FOD) while on the airfield.
- Monitors surroundings when out on the airfield and reports issues as observed.
- Operates sweeper truck cleaning all airport pavements.
- May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly, or completely unrelated to normal job functions in the course of presenting certain Town special events.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND four (4) years of experience maintaining and repairing facilities and/or airfield assets; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relations with fellow employees, Town officials, and outside contracts. Safe driving record. Clear criminal background check and clear pre-employment drug screen.
Knowledge of: - Work safety practices, procedures, and protocols.
- Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
- Materials, tools, and equipment used in utility system repair and maintenance.
- Per FAA Advisory Circular 150/5210-20, selected candidate must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the English language.
- Basic computer knowledge in Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Town applications.
Skill in: - Interacting tactfully and professionally with the public.
- Working safely with hand and power tools and equipment.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Valid Texas Driver's License is required. Must be able to obtain Airport Movement Area certification within two weeks of appointment.
Supplemental Information ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS This is a nonexempt position. Routine schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Schedule may be modified if department needs arise. Position will be a part of an on-call rotation once qualified. May be required to work overtime if needed. This position is required to live within a 45-minute response time of the Addison Airport.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work performed requires a high level of physical exertion, may be required to load and unload objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Work is often performed outdoors in all weather conditions and may require entry into confined spaces and extreme heights.
