Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse, you will manage the admission, preoperative assessment, and preparation of patients on the day of their scheduled surgical procedures. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing, planning, and evaluating pre-op and post-op patient care.
  • Obtaining supplies, equipment, and medications needed for patient care.
  • Preparing and monitoring patients for surgeries and procedures.
  • Administering medications and IV therapy.
  • Receiving and initiating physician orders.
  • Providing pre-op and post-op patient education and emotional support.
  • Ensuring patients meet discharge criteria.
  • Conducting follow-up calls post-procedure to evaluate patient care.

Job Requirements

Experience: A minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse in Surgical Services preferred; 1 year of acute care experience as a Registered Nurse is required.

Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications: Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
