Company Description
mdg is a design-forward architecture and construction management studio specializing in high-end residential renovations throughout NYC. We innovate turn-key solutions that push the envelope of materials, fabrication techniques, and functional design. Our services span schematic design, materials research, construction documents, interior design, value engineering, project management, field supervision, mock-ups, and construction oversight.
Every project integrates at least one new material, custom-engineered component, or complex system—continuous innovation is at the core of our work. We pride ourselves on exceptional client service, precision execution, and a collaborative, respectful work culture.
Role Description
We are seeking an Intermediate Designer (3–5 years experience) with advanced Revit skills to support one or two upcoming projects on a contract, project-based basis. This is not a full-time employee role; there are no benefits but we would like to discuss a future full time role if possible. Work will be a hybrid structure with flexibility, but some in-person coordination in NYC is required at our Columbus Circle office.
Typical responsibilities include:
• Developing detailed architectural and construction drawings in Revit
• Producing material palettes, presentations, and 3D views/representations
• Assisting with construction documents and specification development
• Participating in client meetings and design reviews
• Supporting field coordination and limited site verification
• Collaborating with the principal on design execution and project deliverables
Qualifications
• Advanced Revit proficiency (non-negotiable)
• 3–5 years of experience in an architecture or construction office in NYC
• Strong skills in architectural drawing, detailing, and document coordination
• Familiarity with NYC residential construction and building codes
• Strong 3D visualization abilities (Enscape proficiency preferred)
• Nice-to-have: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field
• Excellent communication, time management, and attention to detail
• Ability to operate independently with clear direction and meet deadlines
Compensation
• Hourly rate or fixed project fee, depending on scope and experience
• Compensation will be based on a clearly defined scope of work
• No benefits; contractor role only
