Quark Expeditions is the leading polar expedition travel company headquartered in Toronto, Canada. We operate cruises to Antarctica and Arctic regions (Greenland, North Canada, Svalbard) on board of 3 modern polar expedition ships – Ultramarine, Ocean Explorer, and World Explorer. We are looking to hire an Area Sales Director to join our team! Reporting to the Sr Director, Americas, Charters and Groups, you'll identify new business opportunities in select markets to grow sales and establish new partnerships across multiple channels. This position will work closely to develop new leads and grow select accounts to a higher producing status within the indirect market. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the retail and wholesale channels, demonstrate an excitement to educate on the Quark product, and strong urgency to close new business leads.

What you’ll do:

  • Handle both the existing sales pipeline and the development of new business opportunities
  • Identify trends and customer needs, build a sales pipeline for short/medium/long term following targets
  • Prospect new agencies within preferred and non-preferred retail consortia and wholesale channels to establish working relationships and gain new revenue.
  • Adopt the company sales playbook for improving conversion.
  • Grow lower revenue-producing assigned accounts to top-producing status.
  • Educate trade audiences on Quark product through live and virtual training.
  • Participates in relevant events, growing Quark’s product exposure.
  • Maintain a summary of special offers and conditions extended to assigned accounts.
  • Uses Salesforce and Power BI to analyze and monitor sales of assigned territory, ensuring high lead conversion rates.
  • Coordinate communication for leads and client-related inquiries with appropriate departments.
  • Supports the high-level strategy and marketing coordination with key accounts.

Territory:

Eastern U.S (KS, IA, MO, WI, IL, IN, OH, WV, VA, PA, NY, VT, MA, NH, ME, RI, CT, NJ, DE, MD, DC)

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience in increasingly senior roles in Sales or Business Development, preferably within the travel industry.
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to successfully outline Quark’s product and value proposition.
  • Strong understanding of retail and wholesale channels with the ability to identify new business opportunities and prospect leads.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to understand the needs of passengers and positively make recommendations to improve customer experience.
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize, implementing travel schedule and appointments independently.
  • Grounded, mature self-starter with a passion for exceeding goals and objectives.
  • Salesforce experience preferred
  • Requires the ability to travel internationally, without restriction, within assigned territory and for selected events at least 50% of the year.
