Seeking Bilingual Immigration & Human Rights Attorney

We are an immigration law firm that is on track for aggressive growth, and we need an experienced immigration lawyer to join our team and work collaboratively with owners, staff, and clients to achieve our mission.

Compensation:

$150,000 - $160,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

Casework & Advocacy

  • Represent clients in immigration court proceedings, bond hearings, and interviews before USCIS and EOIR.
  • Prepare and file a wide range of immigration applications and motions, including cancellation of removal, asylum, VAWA, U visas, family petitions, waivers, and adjustment of status, as well as appeals and federal litigation.
  • Conduct legal research, draft briefs, motions, and memoranda for complex immigration and federal court matters.
  • Develop and implement litigation strategies in removal and federal district court cases.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, including providing case updates, managing expectations, and guiding them through complex processes with empathy and professionalism.

Supervision & Collaboration

  • Supervise and mentor paralegals, legal assistants, and support staff in case preparation and client communication.
  • Review filings prepared by staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and team members to strategize on complex cases and ensure high-quality representation.

Professional Development Compliance

  • Stay current on immigration law developments, policy changes, and best practices in litigation and humanitarian relief.
  • Maintain professional licensure in good standing and be willing to obtain federal district court admission.
  • Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all aspects of client representation.

Firm Participation

  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives, community outreach, and professional development efforts.
  • Participate in case review meetings and internal training.
  • Support the firm’s mission to provide excellent, collaborative, and justice-oriented immigration representation.
Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in any U.S. state.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing immigration law, with substantial experience in removal defense and humanitarian relief (e.g., asylum, VAWA, U visa, cancellation of removal).
  • Located in Central Texas, or have a willingness to relocate.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills, including experience drafting motions, briefs, and client declarations.
  • Admission to (or willingness to seek admission to) federal district courts.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a full caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring paralegals, law clerks, or other support staff.
  • Proficiency with case management systems and digital workflow tools.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights and social justice.
  • Effective communicator who can build trust with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to problem-solving and case strategy.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality legal work.
  • Interest in contributing to the growth and development of the firm’s systems and team culture.
