The Business Analyst plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between business objectives, data and technological solutions within LNC. This role is responsible for producing regular reports to support decision-making across the organization, including Corporate Development, Finance & Accounting, Family Office and Legal.
As a family-owned investment company, effective performance in this role will require a strong understanding of corporate finance valuation methodologies, researching and analyzing financial and operational data, recommending key business decisions, and implementing best practices & technology to improve the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Process Improvement:
Analyze current and implement new business processes and technology that support LNC’s long-term corporate objectives. This role may also work with LNC’s portfolio company management teams to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and drive performance.
Portfolio Management & New Investment Evaluation:
Support monitoring of LNC’s current investments, including financial and operational analysis, performance reporting and industry research. This role also supports the team in evaluation of potential new investments and investment thesis development.
Strategic Corporate Forecasting:
Maintain a comprehensive business operating model forecast that accurately predicts future financial performance, valuation, cash flows and returns. These forecasts inform the strategic decision-making of an investment holding company.
Valuation & Investment Return Analysis:
Provide regular valuations of LNC and its portfolio as well as analyze investment return performance against benchmarks and approved investment case. Produce timely, accurate and actionable analysis to enhance enterprise value and mitigate financial risks.
Other:
The analyst also supports LNC’s executive team by producing ad-hoc analysis & reporting related to key duties or business objectives that drive actionable insights for management or is in an easily digestible executive format for the board and owners.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Proven experience with business valuation and financial modeling
· Proactive and solutions-orientation to creatively solve problems and propose solutions
· Professional formatting of work product and strong attention to detail
· Strong interpersonal/customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others; demonstrated collaborative skills.
· Able to prioritize work and multi-task in a fast-paced setting, willing to take on new projects and be flexible
· Practical knowledge of data management and reporting software to populate charts, graphs and other data visualization or business intelligence tools
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 tools
· Complete understanding of financial statements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· BS in Economics and Finance, Accounting or equivalent
· 1-3 years experience, preferably in valuation or transaction advisory, business consulting, operations, corporate development, or investment banking
