About the Role:

The Chemical Plant Operator I, will operate, perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot basic issues for a series of machines and equipment in the use of chemicals to produce consumer products while following established policies and procedures and under frequent guidance. In this role, you will run analytical tests and ensure quality control during chemical processes and maintain a dynamic and continuous process flow that meets safety and regulatory compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating industrial machinery or production equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability in a production environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate equipment, technology tools and chemical, mechanical or thermal processes in assigned area or areas of the production facility with readily definable variables.
  • Monitor equipment and controls panels, execute manual valves, sample and run analytical tests, perform basic adjustments to chemical processes as needed and utilize computer systems to input and record data, working from written or verbal instructions.
  • Identify continuous improvement of facility operations relative to area(s) of responsibility, with limited authority to make changes, as defined by management.
  • Ensure collection and completion of safety permits, safety reviews and safety practices.
  • Operate mobile powered equipment (i.e. Forklift, Sit Down Floor Sweeper/scrubber).
  • Inspect buildings, grounds and equipment utilized by the facility to troubleshoot, perform light maintenance and complete repair work.
  • Use power tools, basic hand tools and electrical tools to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot routine machine performance issues and assist on more complex maintenance work.

Skills:

The required skills enable the C Operator to efficiently manage machinery by understanding operational procedures and safety requirements, ensuring consistent production quality. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are applied daily to identify and resolve equipment issues, minimizing downtime. Communication and teamwork skills facilitate effective collaboration with colleagues and supervisors to maintain smooth operations. Preferred skills such as familiarity with computerized control systems enhance the operator's ability to work with advanced machinery and improve process automation. Additionally, problem-solving abilities support continuous improvement efforts and adaptability in a dynamic production environment.
