Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced In-House Estimator to
join our commercial roofing company. The Estimator will be responsible for
preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial roofing
projects. This role requires a strong understanding of roofing systems,
excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the
project management and sales teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Assessment : Evaluate project plans, specifications, and requirements to understand the scope of work and identify potential challenges.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services required for commercial roofing projects.
  • Quantity Takeoffs: Perform precise quantity takeoffs using architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Bid Preparation: Compile and submit comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring all costs are accounted for and competitive pricing is achieved.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and availability of materials and services.
  • Risk Analysis : Identify potential project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the project management and sales teams to ensure estimates align with project goals and client expectations.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all estimates, bid proposals, and related documents.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in roofing materials and technologies.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating for commercial roofing projects or a related construction field.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).

Knowledge: Strong understanding of various commercial roofing systems, materials, and installation methods.

Analytical Skills : Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.

Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
and meet tight deadlines.

Team Player : Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or equivalent.

Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.

 

Office Environment: Primarily office-based with occasional site visits to assess project requirements.

Travel: Minimal travel required, primarily within the local area.
