Under the direct supervision of the COO, the Director of Compliance is responsible for overseeing an organization’s compliance with government laws and regulations. Their duties include coordinating with company management to identify potential risks, implementing policies and procedures to uphold laws and regulations and monitoring the company’s adherence to those policies and procedures.

Education/ Experience

  • Bachelors required; Masters preferred. Healthcare administration preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant healthcare experience
  • Multi-site healthcare experience required; multi-state preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid, Insurance Managed Care including documentation, coding, reimbursement methodologies, as well as extensive familiarity with Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rules, regulations, and compliance guidance.

Job Requirements

  • Possess proficient knowledge of federal and state regulatory law including fraud and abuse laws, Stark, Anti-kickback, HIPAA Privacy and Security, Medicare/Medicaid Conditions of Participation, FDA, and OSHA regulations, etc.
  • Strong computer software experience required. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel and Word and is familiar with statistics and metric reporting.
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills to process auditing and monitoring reports, identify compliance risks and prioritize recommendations.
  • Ability to work under pressure, delivers on deadlines, and demonstrates flexibility to change direction when required.
  • Knowledge of or an understanding of how all operational areas affect one another and the organization.
  • Understand the importance of maintaining the physical and technical security and privacy of protected health information (PHI).
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures and all Federal, State, and local medical service requirements, including HIPPA Privacy & Security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain internal company policies.
  • Make sure the organization has a clearly defined program for complying with the federal and state laws.
  • Constantly report to management concerning the organization’s compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Act in dealing with noncompliance situations, creating realistic plans to overcome them.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify potential weaknesses and noncompliance situations.
  • Communicate with employees and make sure everyone is aware of what they need to do to comply with internal and external laws and regulations.
