Overview

BRG's Clinical Economics (CE) practice offers extensive healthcare expertise with a focus on payment reform models, clinical quality and value-based policy and performance measurements, strategic and regulatory planning, clinical program financial modeling, regulatory compliance, clinical documentation integrity and provider education.

BRG is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement and Physician Education candidate for the Consultant level. This mid-level position will reside in the Clinical Economics practice. The role requires a highly motivated problem-solver with strong oral and written communication skills, solid organizational abilities, and relevant industry experience. The work will involve assisting in both execution and oversight of engagement work streams that may be qualitative or quantitative, with responsibilities including collaboration in development and presentation of client deliverables, client work, and industry research. The position is mostly remote, with project-dependent travel.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of clinical documentation requirements and coding guidelines applicable to inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Provide CDI training for CDS and coding staff and deliver provider education related to documentation improvement and coding.
  • Assist with planning and management of client engagements.
  • Contribute to complete and accurate client deliverables and collaborate on expert reports as a team member.
  • Support client relationships and communicate results and work products as appropriate.
  • Prioritize assignments to meet team goals and deadlines.
  • Participate in CDI group practice meetings, contribute to business development initiatives, and assist with office functions such as staff recruiting.
  • Provide interim CDS support per client need.
  • Travel is project dependent.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with one or more of the following credentials: RN, RN/BSN; CCDS with CCS highly preferred; RHIA, RHIT; CDIP, CPC, CRC preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive CDI and/or coding experience.
  • Knowledge of DRG coding guidelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with colleagues, providers, and hospital staff in a collaborative manner.
  • Understanding of legal and compliance issues related to clinical documentation and coding.
  • Proficient computer skills with Electronic Medical Record systems; EPIC, Cerner, 3M 360.
  • Proficiency in understanding and delivering education in APR DRGs.
  • Experience delivering CDI education to clients regarding appropriate diagnoses for capturing accurate Severity of Illness, Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCCs), and MS-DRGs.

Candidate must be able to submit verification of legal right to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.

Salary Range: $110,000 $130,000 per year.
