Copywriter

About OX

The Office of Experience (OX) is a full-service digital agency helping companies excel at every moment of interface they have with their customers. OX's human-centered philosophy and multidisciplinary approach integrate strategy, design and technology to help organizations reinvent their business and rapidly bring new experiences, products and messages to market. In an era of unprecedented disruption, OX is built to transform.

Position Description

As a Copywriter at OX, you will serve a dual role crafting both UX-focused content for digital experiences and compelling brand copy that drives engagement. You'll be responsible for creating clear, user-centric interface content while also developing distinctive brand voices that resonate across all touchpoints. The ideal candidate expertly balances writing for utility and emotion - able to simplify complex user flows with clear microcopy one moment, then craft memorable campaign messaging the next. You'll work closely with experience designers to ensure content enhances usability while maintaining brand consistency, and with creative teams to develop distinctive brand voices that come alive across platforms.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Write and optimize content for digital experiences including websites, apps, and products - focusing on clarity, usability and conversion
  • Develop brand voices, messaging frameworks, and copy guidelines that bring personality to every touchpoint
  • Create compelling marketing copy for campaigns, social media, emails, and other brand communications
  • Partner with UX designers to architect content strategy for seamless user experiences
  • Work with creative teams to ensure copy maintains brand voice while serving user needs
  • Lead content audits and develop content models that scale across platforms
  • Provide strategic guidance on content hierarchy, navigation labels, and interface copy
  • Craft presentations and documentation to articulate content decisions to clients
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager

Required Experience

  • 3-7 years experience writing for both digital experiences and brand communications
  • Proven ability to write clear, effective UX content and interface copy
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating both functional experience writing and emotional brand copywriting
  • Experience developing voice and tone guidelines and messaging frameworks
  • Understanding of UX/UI best practices and how content shapes user experience
  • Expertise in content strategy, information architecture, and content modeling
  • Excellent grammar, editing skills, and attention to detail
  • Experience writing for diverse audiences across multiple channels and platforms
  • Ability to adapt writing style for different brands and contexts
  • Strong presentation and documentation skills

Application Requirements

  • Resume
  • Portfolio showcasing both content and brand copywriting work
  • Writing samples demonstrating: UX writing (app flows, interface copy, etc.), brand voice development, marketing campaign copy, long-form content

Location

Chicago / Hybrid
