ABOUT US: Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning parks and recreation agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational programs, classes, and events as well as facilities, parks and open spaces! Our Cultural Arts Department is home to our outstanding theatre program which hosts various productions throughout the year.
JOB SUMMARY: The Cultural Arts Staff member will provide support as needed in our theatre, music, and visual arts departments in accordance with their qualifications. Some of these duties may include teaching after-school classes, assisting with preparations for our community theatre and youth productions, maintaining and inventorying cultural arts supplies, and assisting at cultural arts special events. Employees are expected to attend all staff meetings as required and uphold all SPD safety procedures.
LOCATION: Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Rd., Schaumburg
QUALIFICATIONS: Basic knowledge of theatre is required. The preferred applicant should have an area of specialty they can provide, such as experience with lighting, education, or costuming, but we are willing to cross train in multiple areas. The right candidate will be reliable and possess excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. They will have the ability to work effectively with patrons, park district staff and volunteers while demonstrating tact and a positive attitude. Experience working with children is a plus! Applicants must be at least 16 years old and have reliable transportation.
SCHEDULING & PAY: This is a part-time position with flexible hours depending on performance schedules (some evenings and weekends will be required). Pay rate is starting at $16.00 per hour depending on qualifications.
