SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Facilities Coordinator, the Truck Driver/Delivery Person is responsible for transporting items throughout the district using a single-body dock-lift truck. Primary duties include delivering food from the central nutrition warehouse to district sites, along with additional deliveries of supplies, equipment, and materials as needed. The role ensures safe, timely, and accurate transport while maintaining high standards of customer service, organization, and operational efficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver supplies, equipment, and mail to district locations in a safe and timely manner, including loading and unloading items throughout various building areas.
  • Perform special deliveries or hauling of large or heavy items such as staging, chairs, tables, and manlifts.
  • Develop, maintain, and follow delivery schedules as needed.
  • Assist with preparing supplies and mail for distribution.
  • Establish and follow routines for vehicle maintenance and preventive care.
  • Clean and maintain the Data Center facility according to established standards.
  • Perform daily cleaning of bathrooms, hallways, offices, and other building areas.
  • Dust and wet mop floors and hallways as necessary.
  • Clean sinks, drinking fountains, and glass windows.
  • Pick up and dispose of trash appropriately.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms and toilets; restock paper products and other consumables.
  • Vacuum carpets and entry mats daily.
  • Clean and disinfect spills and stains as needed.
  • Operate floor scrubbers and other cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
  • Follow all recommended cleaning procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Replace paper towels, soap, toilet paper, light bulbs, and other consumable products as required.
  • Monitor building security, ensuring doors are locked, windows are closed, and facilities are cleared of the public.
  • Assist with extensive summer cleaning and various scheduled maintenance/cleaning projects.
  • Wash vents, windows, desks, cupboards, and other surfaces as assigned.
  • Respond promptly to special cleaning requests from staff.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of custodial practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of all equipment required for job performance.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions, risk management procedures, and proper lifting techniques.
  • Knowledge of the application, use, and safe storage of chemicals used in cleaning and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and materials appropriate for various surfaces and environments.
  • Basic knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with building administrators, staff, students, and operations personnel.
  • Ability to follow assigned custodial schedules and complete assignments in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Skill in using and operating cleaning equipment and tools, including scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, leaf blowers, and hand tools.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow health and safety procedures, as well as written instructions.
  • Ability to apply appropriate chemicals and cleaning techniques safely and effectively.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to lift, carry, load, and unload items up to 50 pounds safely using proper lifting techniques.
  • Ability to push, pull, or maneuver carts, dollies, or other equipment exceeding 100 pounds.
  • Ability to climb in and out of trucks, use ladders, and access delivery areas that may require bending, stooping, or reaching.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods during deliveries and driving.
  • Ability to safely operate a truck, dock-lift, and other delivery vehicles, adhering to all traffic and safety regulations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, including the use of a two-way radio.
  • Sufficient vision and hearing to safely operate vehicles, navigate delivery sites, and handle materials accurately.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Primarily works both indoors and outdoors, subject to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
  • Frequent travel between district locations, including driving on city streets, highways, and school campuses.
  • Work may involve exposure to noise from vehicles, equipment, or machinery.
  • May encounter crowded or confined spaces during deliveries, requiring careful maneuvering of materials.
  • Interaction with school staff, students, and the public while making deliveries.
  • Work may require adherence to strict schedules and deadlines.
  • Position may involve occasional evening, early morning, or weekend work depending on delivery needs.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in driving, delivery, or logistics preferred.
  • Experience operating delivery trucks, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment is desirable.
  • Experience with route planning and safe handling of supplies is a plus.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSE, REGISTRATION
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or appropriate driver's license as required by district policy.
  • Clean driving record in accordance with district requirements.
  • Any additional certifications related to forklift operation, vehicle safety, or material handling are desirable.
