Job Summary

We are seeking a Lead Data Modeler with 14 to 18 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL Databricks and Data Architecture along with domain experience in Transportation Management Concepts and Road & Intermodal Transportation. This hybrid role requires a proactive individual who can contribute to our data strategy and drive impactful solutions.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and implementation of data models to support business requirements in the transportation domain.
• Be responsible for the development and optimization of SQL queries to ensure efficient data retrieval and manipulation.
• Guide in Databricks to streamline data processing and analytics workflows.
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams to understand data needs and translate them into effective data architecture solutions.
• Ensure data integrity and consistency across various data sources and systems.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data models processes and workflows.
• Implement standard processes for data governance and security to protect sensitive information.
• Monitor and fix data-related issues ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on operations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data quality and system performance.
• Mentor and guide junior team members fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to keep our data architecture innovative.
• Give to strategic planning and decision-making processes by providing data-driven insights.
• Support the development of data migration strategies for legacy systems to modern platforms.

Qualifications

• Possess a deep understanding of SQL and its application in data modeling and analysis.
• Demonstrate extensive experience with Databricks and its ecosystem.
• Exhibit solid understanding of data architecture principles and standard processes.
• Have a solid grasp of Transportation Management Concepts and their application in data solutions.
• Show proficiency in Road & Intermodal Transportation domain.
• Display excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Communicate optimally with both technical and non-technical partners.
• Adapt to a hybrid work model stabilising remote and in-office work efficiently.
• Bring a proactive approach to identifying and addressing data-related challenges.
• Exhibit strong leadership skills to guide and mentor team members.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Stay committed to continuous learning and professional development.
• Show a track record of successful project delivery in a similar role.

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until 12/15/2024.

The annual salary for this position is between $120,000-$130,000 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
