Salary Range: $120,000–$135,000

About the Role
The Director of Construction & Design leads a team of Architects and Project Managers responsible for delivering major construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects. This role serves as the owner’s representative, developing project delivery strategies, overseeing contracts, and managing risk across multiple initiatives.
Success in this role requires strong leadership, clear communication, and the ability to manage complex projects while maintaining positive working relationships across departments and with external partners. Consistent, reliable attendance and a collaborative mindset are essential.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and mentor a team of Project Managers and Architects through all phases of design and construction
• Develop project delivery strategies that support efficiency and high-quality outcomes
• Oversee contract negotiation, procurement, and construction administration
• Identify and manage project risks to maintain schedule and budget goals
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and internal policies
• Manage multiple major construction projects simultaneously
• Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants, and contractors
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Ten years of experience in design and construction project management
• Five years of supervisory or leadership experience
• Demonstrated experience with contract negotiation and administration
Preferred Qualifications
• Professional registration within the state of Arkansas
• Experience working across multiple building types, such as research, historic, residential, or athletic facilities
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong initiative and independent decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
• Ability to interpret construction documents, codes, and specifications
• Deep understanding of design principles, construction methods, building codes, and project administration
• Expertise in cost estimating, budgeting, contract negotiation, and multi-project management
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Revit or AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, AIA documents, and SharePoint
