About the American Kidney Fund:

The American Kidney Fund (AKF) is the nations leading nonprofit working on behalf of the one in seven Americans living with kidney disease. Our mission is to help people fight kidney disease and live healthier lives, and we fulfill that mission by providing a complete spectrum of programs and services, from prevention through transplant. We are proud to be recognized as one of the top 50 nonprofit employers in the United States by The Nonprofit Times. AKF invests 97 cents of every donated dollar in programs and holds the highest 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator and the Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid (formerly GuideStar).

About the position:

The Director of Corporate Grant Development will play a pivotal role in identifying, writing, and submitting high-quality grant proposals to both current and prospective corporate partners. Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate Engagement and working closely with the corporate team, the Director will craft proposals that align with the strategic priorities of AKF and of potential funders and proactively research new corporate grant opportunities while ensuring project alignment, developing budgets, and setting appropriate sponsorship levels.

  • Grant Development: Partner with the corporate fundraising team, and use key information, to develop and submit grants to existing and potential corporate partners. Ensure grant proposals align with AKFs strategic goals, current programs, and capacity for execution.
  • Budget Development: Work cross-functionally to develop internal budgets and determine appropriate sponsorship levels, including obtaining pricing for project elements.
  • Grant Writing Standards: Create standards of proposal writing, including style, costs and timelines, by collaborating with internal departments and maintaining and updating corporate proposal templates.
  • Grant Progress: Track grant proposal progress and keep detailed records of past, present, and upcoming grant opportunities, deadlines, and proposal statuses.
  • Grant Review: Review and provide feedback on proposals prepared by other team members to ensure they follow the approved templates, reflect AKFs voice, and include all necessary pricing information.
  • Identify New Opportunities: Identify and evaluate new corporate funding sources to expand AKFs funding pool.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of corporate grant fundraising development experience, preferably at a healthcare non-profit organization.
  • A strategic mindset with strong writing and communication skills and the ability to identify and outline programs and services that will appeal to prospective funders.
  • A highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate effectively with others with demonstrated success in project management and program development.
  • Experience developing proposals related to health and wellness preferred.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required; fundraising database software proficiency such as Raisers Edge or similar is a plus.

We provide a competitive salary of $115,000-$125,000 annually, paid holidays, vacation, sick and personal days; health, dental and vision coverage; life insurance and disability coverages; and a generous matching 403(b) retirement plan. In addition, we offer an ideal work/life balance including remote work capability with employees working in the office 1-4 days per month and reduced Friday hours, opportunities for annual raises and bonuses based on performance, free underground parking (Metro subsidies are provided for those who do not drive), and a friendly, collaborative, supportive and diverse culture where our team knows how much they are valued.

AKF is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to fostering a workplace that honors diversity, equity and inclusivity.
