Job Description – Senior Project Manager (Clinical IT)

Optomi, in partnership with a leading healthcare organization, is seeking a Senior Project Manager with strong clinical healthcare IT experience and deep Epic expertise. This role focuses heavily on clinical initiatives and requires a structured, process-driven project manager who can successfully deliver complex, high-visibility projects.

Role Overview

This Senior Project Manager will independently manage a portfolio of clinical IT initiatives spanning multiple service lines. This role includes a mix of upgrades, enhancements, workflow redesign, and clinical system integrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead clinical IT projects across surgical, lab, radiology, pharmacy, audiology, telemedicine, and related departments
  • Manage Epic-related initiatives, including:
  • Workflow optimization
  • Configuration updates
  • System upgrades and enhancements
  • Support implementation and integration of lab instruments, medical devices, and interfaces
  • Drive clinical workflow redesign initiatives (e.g., perioperative and recovery workflows)
  • Support non-Epic clinical tools (e.g., speech recognition, imaging, and AI-enabled clinical solutions)
  • Own project planning, execution, scope, risk, issue, and change management
  • Create and maintain standard PM artifacts (project charters, schedules, status reports, risk/issue logs, communication plans, etc.)
  • Ensure adherence to standardized PMO processes, templates, and escalation procedures
  • Engage clinical stakeholders (physicians, nursing, operations) to build trust, alignment, and adoption
  • Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining delivery discipline and consistency
  • Contribute to PMO process improvement efforts and mentor junior project managers

Required Qualifications

  • PMP certification — REQUIRED
  • 5+ years of Epic experience — REQUIRED
  • Strong clinical healthcare IT project management background
  • Experience supporting multiple clinical service lines
  • Proven ability to operate within structured PMO and ITIL-based frameworks
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
