About Us
We are a mixed vegetable and flower farm managing about 43 acres on the Mohawk River. We are currently cultivating about 6-8 acres and work with another local farm grazing cattle on our pastures. This is our third year growing with consistent production and our second year growing both flowers and vegetables. We primarily sell to local grocery stores, restaurants, and CSA services and our farm is growing and changing quickly in these formative years. Our commitment is to produce high quality and consistent product for our customers.
Farm Hand Position
We are looking for someone who is passionate about growing and enjoying fresh vegetables and flowers. The ideal hire is able to focus on a high quality product for the customer while maintaining a certain efficiency and positive attitude. All tasks on the farm require someone who is self motivated, has attention to detail and an eye for high quality at a fast pace. Conditions are always changing on the farm, so the right person must be flexible and able to receive feedback in a dynamic environment.
Hours and Compensation
-$15.50/hr for 1 month trial period with raise to $16/hr if expectations are met/exceeded
-farm produce and flowers
-40 hours a week through December with potential for off season work
-option to increase from part to full time in the first month
Requirements
-at least 2 years of full time work experience
-work experience involving physical labor preferred
-a reference from a job working full time
-commitment to entire farm season with limited time off for most of the summer/fall
-reliable transportation to the farm
-ability to work well as a team with other crew members
-ability to take direction, adjustments, and instruction on many different tasks
-ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly and maintain endurance throughout the day
-eagerness to learn new skills and improve upon them quickly
