TESTING PERIOD: Applicants are required to complete NTN's FireTEAM exam by or on May 31, 2025 to be considered for the position.

Starting salary: $59,886 annually to start

Upon being hired as a recruit firefighter, successful completion and graduation from the Fire Academy is required. This includes the successful completion of NIMS 100, NIMS 200, Haz Mat Awareness, Haz Mat Ops, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, CPR, and NR-EMT.

Additional Requirements:
Though not a requirement at the time of application, upon successful employment with the LCBF, all recruits must be able to offer proof of residency within Lancaster County. This is a contractual requirement with the IAFF Local 319 and would go into effect the day that the recruit firefighter is sworn in.

Hiring Process:
A successful candidate must pass all four sections of the FireTEAM test with a cumulative score of at least 70%. Generally the top 40 candidates will be invited to an interview where they must score at least 70% to move on to the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT). CPAT is a pass or fail test. If a candidate is successful, their name will be included on an eligibility list with the Civil Service Board. The list can be used for hiring for a period of two years from the date it was certified.

Preference Points:

U.S. VETERAN'S PREFERENCE - Ten points for veteran's preference will be added to the scores of eligible veterans who pass the examination and have completed at least one full term of service. You must be honorably discharged from the U.S. armed forces. Upload a DD214, to your profile if you wish for your eligibility to be reviewed.

RESIDENCE PREFERENCE - One preference point per year for every consecutive year of residency, up to a total of nine points. In order to receive the residency preference points, the applicant must be a City resident at time of application and will be required to furnish proof of residency along with their request for points at the time of application.

BILINGUAL PREFERENCE - Five points will be added to the scores of candidates who can communicate in a second language at a fourth-grade level or greater. In order to receive the points, an applicant will be required to pass a language test.

Only non-veteran applicants are entitled to residency and bilingual preference points. A non-veteran applicant can only receive a maximum of nine preference points as a result of a combination of residency and bi-lingual points.

Work Schedule:
Our firefighter/EMT's operate on a four-platoon system. FF's will work two 10-hour days, followed by two 14-hour nights with four days off in between each tour.
