A Forensics Project Engineer will be expected to perform forensic engineering assessments and provide verbal/written reports for insurance carriers, attorneys, homeowners, property managers, and similar stakeholders. Knowledge of building codes and standards and construction practices is required. Litigation experience is a plus. The position requires skills in problem solving, critical thinking, writing, presentation, and must be steadfast in the execution of assigned duties. The position requires a self-motivated and active networker who values building credible relationships with clients and the community. A flexible approach to challenges and a strong ability to think laterally in delivering project solutions is needed. Responsibilities Communication with clients before and after site visit and post report production to review/clarify scopes and explain observations and findings. Perform on-site interviews with a variety of individuals to collect histories, data, concerns, Physical working conditions include a variety of field conditions that include, but are not limited to, scaling ladders, walking on a variety of roof coverings, accessing roof attic or floor crawlspaces, walking and assessing interior and exterior conditions. Photograph site conditions with an eye to explain conditions and determine cause of Review codes, standards, research and apply critical formulation of facts to develop conclusions that assist clients to resolve concerns that are defensible. Maintain good project data management/storage Develop reports that outline site observations, applicable codes, standards, findings and Occasional work with Professional Engineers and Field staff from the National Forensics This may require out of state travel to other NV5 office locations/staff or geographic regions. Provide work products (e.g., field work, report, client communication, ) within budget. Perform other duties related to profession as required. Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural A minimum of 2 years of relevant Knowledge of general construction methods is strongly Excellent verbal and written communication Ability to work autonomously and under time Must have valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record. Registered Civil Engineer (PE) in Florida preferred or plans to attain PE license in the future.
