Groundskeeper/Woody Plant Technician Needed.

Private property in Dover, MA looking for a hands-on groundskeeper with a strong background in woody plant care. This position has the primary responsibility of maintaining the property’s grounds, including shrubs, trees, gardens and fields. Experience in Northeast gardening/landscaping and understanding of species and climate zones required. On-call assistance for issues in and around the property, including the occasional weekends are required.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Annual pruning and plant care for a diverse list of shrubbery and trees. Grass (lawn and pasture) maintenance as well.
• Forestry/tree work (clearing and selective pruning)
• Trail Maintenance
• Walk the property daily and identify potential areas of concern.
• Pick up debris, trash, leaves and ensure areas are clean, safe, and visually appealing.
• Liaise with vendors and internal team members to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
• Review and complete daily work requests as assigned by the Estate Manager.
• On-call response duties may include responding on-site during off hours.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Knowledge of farm, forestry/tree, horticulture, grounds, irrigation systems, and landscaping techniques/practices.
• Knowledge of native woody shrubs and trees, with the ability to maintain for both the forest (wild) and landscape settings.
• General knowledge of methods, materials, and practices used to maintain grounds.
• Gardening knowledge, compost, and irrigation repairs a plus.
• Previous experience working on equestrian estate, private grounds, or golf course a plus.
• Able to operate machinery and/or hand power tools such as chainsaws, tractors, etc.
• Able to lift up-to 70 lbs. Work is physically demanding and requires extended periods of standing, bending, walking, kneeling, and moving outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Willing to perform other duties when needed to assist the team (e.g., maintenance, cleaning).

• Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and independently.

• Excellent communication skills both orally and written required.
• High attention to detail.
• Respect for privacy and ability to always maintain a high level of confidentially.
• Successfully pass all pre-employment requirements
• Authorized to work in the US.
