The (OSW) Instrument Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, inspecting, testing, calibrating, and repairing instrumentation and control systems within offshore wind farms. This role involves optimizing systems such as sensors, transmitters, and PLCs, while ensuring compliance with safety procedures and regulatory standards like NERC.
The technician also contributes to daily reporting through operations logbooks and ensures all work adheres to industry standards. A proactive and safety-conscious approach is essential for maintaining the reliability and safety of critical wind generation systems. Additionally, understanding the basic electric grid, including transmission and substation operations, and knowledge of NERC compliance, including evidence collection and documentation, is crucial for maintaining regulatory compliance in offshore wind operations.
Knowledge of North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards is required. Experience in compliance activities, including gathering evidence, conducting inspections, and ensuring all operations align with regulatory requirements. Participation in compliance audits and knowledge of how offshore systems integrate with grid reliability standards are critical.
