Job Description

Strategic Education, Inc. is seeking a dynamic and experienced IT Director – Application Development & Mobile Apps to lead our software development and mobile application initiatives. This role will drive the strategy, design, and execution of innovative digital solutions that enhance the student and faculty experience. The IT Director will oversee the full application lifecycle, ensuring scalability, security, and seamless integration across our technology ecosystem. Key Responsibilities: Application Development Leadership: Oversee the design, development, and implementation of enterprise applications, ensuring alignment with business objectives and IT strategy. Mobile App Strategy & Execution: Lead the development and continuous improvement of mobile applications that enhance user engagement, accessibility, and learning experiences. Technology Roadmap & Innovation: Define the long-term vision for application architecture, leveraging emerging technologies to enhance performance, scalability, and security. Agile & DevOps Practices: Implement Agile methodologies and DevOps best practices to streamline development, deployment, and maintenance processes. Team Management & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of software engineers, architects, and project managers. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, UX/UI, Security, and Infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration and user experience. Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Engage with external partners and vendors to drive strategic initiatives, evaluate new technologies, and manage outsourcing relationships. Performance & Security Compliance: Ensure all applications meet compliance, data privacy, and security standards in accordance with industry best practices. Budget & Resource Allocation: Manage budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation to optimize project delivery and operational efficiency. Qualifications & Experience: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience: 10+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, with a strong focus on application development and mobile technology. Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of software development frameworks, cloud technologies, mobile platforms (iOS, Android), and APIs. Leadership & Strategy: Proven track record of leading technology teams and driving digital transformation initiatives. Project Management: Strong experience with Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies. Security & Compliance: Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, compliance requirements, and risk management strategies. Communication & Influence: Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Skills: Experience in the education technology sector or with learning management systems. Familiarity with AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics for application enhancement.
