Job Description

K-5 Physical Education Teacher

The Children's School follows a constructivist model of education for Toddler through 5th grade programs. The K-5 P.E. teacher works closely with Head and support teachers and Administrative Team to plan and implement Physical Education curriculum across kindergarten-5th grade programs and supports lunch hour recess periods.

Representative duties include:

  • The K-5 P.E. Teacher plans and implements developmentally appropriate P.E. curriculum to all K-5 students and supports recess periods.
  • Uses social emotional curriculum to support, supervise, and ensure the safety and well-being of children in the program.
  • Maintains active and open communication with Head classroom teachers of the children in need of additional support and with the other members of the Children's School staff.

Requirements include:

  • Three or more years recent successful teaching experience preferred.
  • BA degree in education or related field preferred.
  • California State Multiple Subjects Credential preferred.
  • Knowledge of a Constructivist, Experiential model of education.
  • Commit to an inclusive, culturally sustaining education model.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to promote and sustain effective working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.
  • Position is contingent upon fingerprinting/background check clearance and tuberculosis clearance.
