Job Description

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Linux System Administrator on the FROST program located on Schriever Space Force Base. This role will be responsible for providing support to an intricate, multi-domain network infrastructure that enables strategic space operations, including launch activities. We are continuously upgrading our infrastructure to meet the cutting-edge demands of new space programs, and we’re looking for the right person to grow with us. Position is normally Mon – Fri; but will require on-call, evening, and weekend support during system anomalies or mission requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform systems administration duties, including but not limited to, planning, setup, configuration, and maintenance, for compute and storage infrastructure supporting strategic space operations.
  • Collaborate with Cyber Engineers, Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, Launch Engineers, Integration Engineers, Orbit Analysts, SETAs, Government Personnel, and Operations Personnel.
  • Adjust to system changes by following a strict change management process that includes, but is not limited to, submitting change requests, thoroughly testing updates in a controlled environment, documenting all modifications, and obtaining necessary approvals before deploying changes to live systems, all with the primary goal of minimizing security risks and maintaining mission capability. 
  • Participate in daily collaboration meetings.
  • Track tasks and report problems via enterprise tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Adhere to lessons learned and provide recommendations for ongoing process improvements.
  • Support an after-hours on-call schedule. On-call duties are shared among the team on a rotating basis
  • Provide evening and weekend support in response to system anomalies or mission/launch requirements.
  • Supporting site inspections activities to ensure quality, safety, and compliance requirements are maintained as described in the Statement of Work (SOW), site specific Occupational Safety and Health Administration publications, and local/state policies/regulations.
  • Support Peraton growth opportunities; Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposal (RFP), and Subject Matter Expert (SME) data calls.
  • Support the Program Manager to ensure compliance with SOW/Task Order requirements associated with deliverables, and performance standards.
  • Support the Program Manager to ensure a collaborative relationship is maintained with our prime and government customers.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • Must have an Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Education/Experience: 2 years with BS/BA; without a degree, 6 years' experience may be considered.
  • Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (ex: Security+ CE), or greater.
  • Able to support an after-hours on-call schedule. On-call duties are required due to mission criticality and are shared among the team on a rotating basis.
  • Able to occasionally work abnormal hours to support spacecraft launch events.
  • Experience or familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux integration with Windows authentication services (Active Directory).
  • Experience or familiarity using automation tools such as Ansible, Red Hat Satellite, Chef, and Puppet.
  • Experience or familiarity with containerization, migration, deployment, and maintenance using tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, specifically regarding a Tanzu/Kubernetes DevSecOps (Development Security Operations) pipeline.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 (RHEL8), specifically including configuring Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) to allow custom applications, and File Access Policy (FApolicy) setup.
  • Experience with VMware product configuration and administration.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience in any of the following areas will make you more competitive for the position.
  • Experience with the challenges associated with systems integration, including COTS integration, capacity analysis, and system architecture design.
  • Experience using automation tools to maintain a system configuration baseline, and to execute tasks such as software installs and vulnerability patches.
  • Experience with VMware vCenter configuration and administration.
  • Experience with automating certificate management to support DevSecOps deployments.
  • Experience hardening system environments by optimizing storage partitions to meet STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) and custom application requirements.
  • Experience with establishing and configuring Gitlab CI/CD (Continuous Integration Continuous Delivery) pipeline.
  • Experience with Splunk to include creating dashboards to monitor the state of critical system components operating on RHEL and Windows, across networks, including SAN devices.
  • Experience with cross domain solutions spanning across different levels of security classification.
  • Experience working within a multi-site resilient infrastructure.

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
