Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8 hours/day (40 hours/week)
Contract Duration : 13 Weeks
Pay Rate: $ 50 - $ 53 per hour on W2
Position Summary: The Registered Dietician (RD) will perform nutritional screening, assessment, and intervention for patients at Jacobi Medical Center. This role involves providing timely, accurate nutritional care, patient education, and collaboration with physicians to optimize patient health outcomes. The position will focus on women’s health and nutrition, including diabetes management, with a preference for candidates holding CDCES certification.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct nutritional screenings and assessments in an accurate and timely manner based on patient care levels.
Determine patients' nutritional needs and status, providing appropriate follow-up care.
Interview patients and/or family members to gather dietary history and preferences.
Monitor and educate patients about food and drug interactions, documenting these interactions in the patient education records.
Interpret laboratory, physical, and social data relevant to nutritional care from medical records.
Provide individualized nutrition education, recording diet instructions and verifying patient understanding.
Consult with physicians to recommend appropriate diet modifications.
Modify patient menus as necessary to meet clinical nutrition goals.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education : Graduate of an accredited college/university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition.
Master’s degree preferred.
Certification :
For Acute Care: Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian.
For Post-Acute Care (Long-Term Care): New York State Certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist issued by the NY State Education Department (NYSED).
Primary Source Verification is required.
Experience: Minimum of 2 year of related experience required.
Certifications :
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
CDCES certification preferred (especially for diabetes-focused care).
Strong knowledge of nutritional care practices and food/drug interactions.
Excellent communication and patient education skills.
Additional Information:
Compliance with Medicare and Medicaid Program regulations for Long-Term Care facilities.
The role focuses on women’s health nutrition and diabetes management.
