Inpatient Medical Coder

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply appropriate ICD-10 and PCS procedure codes for inpatient records, billing, internal and external reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Review clinical and chart documentation to ensure accuracy in coding for inpatient services.
• Work under the direction of the Coding Manager to ensure all codes align with ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines, CMS, and other official coding standards.
• Maintain compliance with coding regulations for research and reporting purposes.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience coding hospital acute care inpatient records.
• Certification: CCS, CPC-H, RHIT, or RHIA.
• Must be bilingual (English and Spanish).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and willing to undergo a federal background check as part of onboarding.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with trauma, strokes, cardiac, cancer, general and vascular surgery coding.
• Experience with federal or military medical coding.
• Proficiency in systems like EPIC, Cerner, NextGen, Allscripts, or other EHR systems.
• Strong knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, and Medical Terminology.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM and PCS coding clinics.
• Familiarity with Government and Payer guidelines related to compliant coding.
• Associate's Degree preferred.
• Willingness to maintain professional credentials at all times.
