Job Summary and Qualifications

The Medical Laboratory Specialist (MLS) leverages trained skills to analyze blood, urine, and other bodily fluid samples to assist in diagnosing and evaluating patient health conditions. You will engage in Performance Improvement initiatives to ensure continuous Quality Improvement and maintain cultural sensitivity in all interactions.

Responsibilities:

• Process specimens and conduct preanalytic inspection to guarantee identification and integrity.
• Perform various laboratory tests on patient specimens; evaluate test results and report/enter/verify findings in the Laboratory Information System.
• Conduct periodic quality control evaluations as per established policies.
• Assess new or modified procedures, reagents, and instruments under the guidance of the Section Coordinator.
• Troubleshoot instruments as directed by the Section Coordinator.
• Engage in hospital initiatives and align with department goals set by the Laboratory Director and Manager.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree; completion of a NCCLS accredited Medical Technician program.
• Hospital laboratory experience is preferred.
