Medical Records Clerk


Coastal Harbor Health System is comprised of a 145-bed hospital for children and adolescents, providing both short- and long-term inpatient care, and a 50-bed inpatient hospital serving men and women, ages 18 and up. The Medical Records Clerk analyzes, organizes, files, and maintains current and archived patient charts, as well as maintains and responds to all departmental communication.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform chart audits on a regular and monthly basis to ensure compliance with policies
  • Assemble and audit discharged patient records and abstract information and data
  • Assist in gathering data and input into computer system; run reports as needed
  • Analyze patient charts for correct ICD code and enter the final diagnosis into the computer system for billing

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Training or experience in medical coding, medical chart analysis, and medical terminology required; certification in medical coding preferred
