Job Description

The incumbent is responsible for compiling, maintaining and retrieving medical records while adhering to medical records standard of confidentiality. This individual will assist with developing, organizing, implementing and maintaining health information systems for accurate storage and retrieval of medical information in accordance with the standards of the Lutheran Hospice, accrediting and regulating agencies.

• Must posses a minimum of a high school education.
• Two years experience with hospice medical records or related medical record experience. Computer skills required.
• Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology.
• Demonstrate excellence with communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Must be organized, possess structure for meeting deadlines, function independently, have flexibility and possess the ability to multi-task.
• Knowledge of corporate business management, governmental regulations and applicable standards.
• Demonstrates good communication skills and public relations skills.
• Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order. Must be able to travel throughout the service area.
• Is able to meet the physical demands of the job including bending, carrying, stooping, walking, and lifting.
• Must be flexible to assist the hospice program in providing 24 hours, 7 days per week care. Some evening, night, weekend, and holiday work will be necessary.
• Demonstrates an ability to effectively learn and use the computer and required software programs to ensure a true and correct electronic medical record for each patient.
• Must be able to utilize technology appropriately as needed to meet the requirements of the position.
