Are you a compassionate and dedicated mental health professional passionate about empowering individuals and families to thrive? We're seeking a skilled Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic outpatient Counseling Services program. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to provide vital support to a diverse population, including children, adults, and families, using a trauma-informed approach.
What You'll Do:
Provide Comprehensive Mental Health Services: Conduct thorough assessments, formulate accurate diagnoses, develop personalized treatment plans, and deliver effective psychotherapy services.
Offer Individual, Family, and Group Counseling: Provide tailored support to clients navigating a wide range of challenges, fostering resilience and promoting well-being.
Advocate and Connect: Act as a strong advocate for your clients, linking them to essential community resources and support services.
Maintain Detailed Records: Accurately and efficiently document client progress and administrative tasks using electronic medical records.
Collaborate and Communicate: Prepare professional reports for courts, schools, and other community agencies as needed. Build and maintain positive working relationships with fellow professionals, community partners, and coalitions.
Commit to Professional Growth: Continuously enhance your skills and knowledge through ongoing training and development, including a focus on cultural competency and best practices.
Engage in Team Collaboration: Participate actively in regular supervision sessions, staff meetings, and case conferences, sharing your expertise and contributing to a supportive team environment.
Contribute to Quality Improvement: Participate in agency quality improvement initiatives and other meetings to ensure the highest standards of care.
Embrace Diversity and Inclusion: Demonstrate sensitivity, fairness, and acceptance of diversity in all interactions, and actively seek to expand your understanding of diverse communities.
Maintain Client Contact: Maintain a minimum of 25 hours of client contact weekly.
Electronic Health Record proficiency: Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft based products and electronic health record systems.
What You'll Bring:
A valid New York State Education Department license, or license eligibility, in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
Experience in a community-centered mental health setting (preferred).
Demonstrated cultural competence in working with diverse and underserved populations in urban and suburban settings.
A valid NYS driver's license (preferred).
Proficiency in computer skills, including experience with electronic medical records (preferred).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
A strong commitment to the agency's mission, vision, and values.
