Job Description

The Network Technician performs installation and termination of structured cabling systems, including CAT5E, CAT6 and fiber optic cable. Installs, terminates, and tests data jacks and face plates. Moves-adds-changes of phones and desktop computers. Installation of cabling for card access systems. Install of network and server equipment into racks. Data closets build out. Data Racks, ladder racking, backboards, etc.

Duties:

• Installing support structures (J-Hooks, support rings, cable slings and cable tray/ladder rack).
• Helps in the termination of workstation outlets and closet equipment. (110 & 66 blocks and patch panels)
• Test and troubleshoot cables.
• Must be able to maneuver to and through all areas, especially in the back of the house.
• Capable of responding to user questions and/or problems in an efficient and effective manner.
• Capable of responding to beeper calls from Operations on programming problems regarding assigned applications.
• Must have analytical skills for communication.
• Must have the ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Supports the company culture expectation on delivering 4 diamond service.
• Adherence to all departmental and company policies, including but not limited to the attendance and appearance policy and the code of conduct.
• Willingness to learn new things with a positive attitude.
• Independent, but also works well as part of a group.

Qualifications:

• Strong work ethic.
• Use of hand tools.
• Must be able to climb ladders, stand for long periods of time, lift in excess of 50lbs.
• Knowledge of test equipment a plus.
• Some knowledge of desktop computers a plus.
