Position Overview & Responsibilities:

This position will assist in managing the implementation and data collection for the assigned summer trial. The duties of this job require maintaining established standards of quality and accuracy. However, due to the nature of field trials, technical problem solving within a defined span of control is oftentimes necessary. Absent that, collaborative communication and coordination with other available, more technical resources should be exercised.

A sense of urgency, consistent achievement of quality standards, and a self-disciplined approach to achieving results are necessary for successful job performance.

Major Areas of Accountability:

• Assist with trial design.
• Responsible to provide trial summaries with the conclusions and results and present this data to designated individuals.
• Working with farm personnel on data collection protocols.
• Weighing pigs and feed.
• Feeding experimental animals.
• Tagging and tattooing animals.
• Managing the data collection process.

Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:

• Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary agriculture-related educational program.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Display a high level of respect to team members and animals. Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Ability to exercise independent thinking and judgment, as well as communicating needs to the Nutrition and Research Coordinator.
