Position Details Nutrition Servic es Assistant -.313FTE (2.5 H ours/Day) -Kelly Elementary School Posting Timeline: Applicants are reviewed regularly. The work year for this position starts in August and continues through June, with summers off, and follows the district calendar.

The Nutrition Services Food Service Assistant is responsible for performing general customer service role as well assisting in the preparation of school meals.
What you will do - Prepare nutritious, high quality meals for PPS students.
- Providing excellent customer service.
- Cashiering and handling cash transactions with student customers.
- Ability to handle food in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintaining a sanitary environment at all times.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
What you bring - You're able to work quickly and efficiently following verbal and written instructions
- You're able to lift up to 50 lbs.; push or pull 70-100 lbs.; use a full range of motion at standard height work stations; able to work in uniform
- You're able to receive directions in English over the phone and at the work site.
- You're able to work with money and make changes while serving.
- You'll maintain a current Multnomah County Food Handler's Certification (not required at time of hire but needed in order to begin work).
- You have basic computer skills and the ability to work with a computerized cash register.
- You're willing to travel to all schools throughout the district
Preferably: - You enjoy cooking and working with kids and students in grades Pre K to 12th grade.
- You have experience working with children, school staff, and Nutrition Services employees
- You have experience cooking in a commercial kitchen
What we offer - Pay : $19.47/per hour
- Employees are paid on a monthly basis, on the last business day of each month
- The pay periods begin on the 16th and ends on the 15th of the following month
- Schedule: August to June (170 days per year) when school is in session for students following the district calendar .
