The Village of Skokie (IL) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Police Records Clerk. Under general direction from the Records Supervisor, the Records Clerk is responsible for the collection, review, organization, retention, and retrieval of all incidents brought to the attention of the Police Department; Reviews, processes, and maintains all Police records, including offense, arrest, citations, accident, and related reports, per State and Federal standards, and comply with State mandated reporting, and enters data in the Records Management System; Process subpoena requests and court rosters; Assists with court duty tasks, as needed; Responds to requests for documents from various departments; Prepare transmittal for the Circuit Court of Cook County Second Municipal District; Protects the secure storage and confidentiality of all records within the Unit; Assists citizens and provides them with general information or direction; Process Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests; maintain annual FOIA certification via Illinois Attorney General's Office; Process court orders to expunge and seal records in compliance with State requirements; Prepares monthly reports; Performs other work-related duties as assigned or required.
High School Diploma or equivalent required; At least two years of diversified office experience with considerable skill in maintaining and managing confidential records and files; Must be familiar with personal computers, computer database programs, and word processing programs; Demonstrated knowledge of software programs such as "Query", Microsoft Office Suite, Access, and Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) log inquiry is desirable; Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions; Must have the ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with peers and the public; Ability to perform multiple tasks accurately, efficiently, and expediently; Some skill in the use of discretionary judgment in dispensing sensitive and confidential information.
