Recovery Place is a substance abuse and behavioral health treatment facility providing group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, relapse prevention, medication management, aftercare, and 12-step recovery programs. For over three decades, we have provided treatment that clients need to overcome their substance abuse and behavioral health disorders regardless of their financial status through both residential and outpatient services. Currently, we are seeking a Recovery Coach to join our team.

As a Recovery Coach, you will be helping others by providing support services to engage individuals in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapses as part of a multi-disciplinary team for people with substance abuse problems.

The Key Duties for this Position Include:

• Demonstrate empathy, caring, and concern to bolster a person’s self-esteem and confidence through peer mentoring/coaching.
• Share knowledge, information, and provide life or vocational skills training in individual or group sessions to meet their personal recovery goals. This includes topics like finding a safe place to live, job readiness, wellness, parenting, and nutrition.
• Provide concrete assistance to help individuals access community health and social services, transportation, and childcare.
• Facilitate contacts with other people to promote the learning of social and recreational skills, create community involvement, acquire a sense of belonging, which include alcohol and drug-free socialization opportunities.
• Assist individuals who have a substance use disorder in locating recovery support services as mutual support groups.
• Utilize tools such as Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) to assist clients in creating their own individual wellness and recovery plans.
• Help individuals manage crises.
• Plan leisure and recreation activities for the Recovery Community Center.
• Educate family, the public, and policymakers about substance use disorders and the recovery process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• A passion for helping people.
• An intimate knowledge of the recovery process, knowledge of recovery resources such as the 12-step programs and other community support groups in the Chatham County area.
• Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills, highly compassionate and attentive to details.
• A minimum of two years in recovery from a personal substance or alcohol addiction.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Social Media Platforms.
• C.A.R.E.S. eligible; C.A.R.E.S. certified is a plus.
• The flexibility to work evening or weekend hours, along with being on call, to meet the needs of the individuals we serve.
