KDA, Inc, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, has been operating in the United States for more than 20 years. We produce world-leading Remote Weapon Systems (RWS) for the US Army, Marine Corps, and allies at our Johnstown, Pennsylvania factory. We have delivered more than 20,000 PROTECTOR RWS to 28 countries. The National Advanced Surface-to-Air System (NASAMS) is a highly mobile and tailorable capability that protects the airspace of 13 countries and Washington, DC. In 2027, we will do final assembly, test, and sustainment of the Naval Strike Missile and Joint Strike Missile systems at a new factory in southern Virginia.

Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace Inc. is seeking to fill the role of a Recruiter to work in the Virginia area.

This role will own a full range of talent acquisition services to include sourcing, screening, workforce planning, and community marketing. You'll collaborate with hiring managers to understand their specific needs and craft compelling job descriptions that attract top-tier talent. Working in partnership with the business, you will be responsible for sourcing the best talent for our business. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:

  • Manages the recruitment process for exempt and nonexempt employees, temporary workers, and interns using established procedures to recruit and hire a superior workforce.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and create detailed job descriptions and marketing plans.
  • Screen resumes and applications to identify qualified candidates.
  • Conduct initial phone interviews to assess candidates' suitability for open positions.
  • Coordinate and schedule in-person interviews between candidates and hiring managers.
  • Manage and maintain the applicant tracking system to ensure a smooth, timely, and communicative recruitment process.
  • Facilitates employee selection committees as appropriate.
  • Coordinates temporary work assignments (contract workers) for departmental managers.
  • Administers the internship program.
  • Identify and participate in job fairs and networking events to promote the company and attract talent.
  • Identifies strategic relationships with educational institutions and proactively partners to pipeline talent for current and future needs.
  • Assists in compiling the data and preparing annual Affirmative Action Plan, as well as other required reporting.
  • Provides Recruiting support for all KDA, Inc. locations and business areas.
  • Tracks departmental measurements and metrics that support the accomplishment of the company's strategic goals, which may include open requisitions (Requisition Log), headcount, turnover, etc.
  • Ensures confidential handling of information and maintains compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Department of Labor, and so forth. Minimizes company exposure to lawsuits. Trains employees on recruiting compliance laws as appropriate.

ANY ADDITIONAL, PERIODIC OR OCCASIONAL DUTIES:

  • Occasional local travel may be required to Northern VA and Western PA
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Participates in HR staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as appropriate.
  • Identifies and participates in job and career fairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required. Equivalent education and/or job-related experience may be considered satisfactory to fulfill the education requirement.
  • Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) certification, Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) certification, or other recruiting-specific certifications are highly preferred.

NUMBER OF YEARS AND TYPE OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 5+ years proven success as a Recruiter for positions in the following settings: production manufacturing, the field, and office environments.
  • 2+ years experience working with government contractors, DOD agencies, and IC agencies.
  • Excellent sourcing skills.
  • Experience supporting an international organization is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge in OFCCP compliance.
  • Ability to strategize and prioritize requisitions and needs of departments
  • Knowledge of target market trends and candidate behaviors.
  • Innate sense of urgency and tenacity; must be comfortable in a growing, fast-paced environment.
  • Holds self and others accountable for delivering results.
  • Own candidate lifecycle from start to finish, including; sourcing, interviewing, negotiating, and closing
  • Contribute to building a positive employment brand.
  • Partner with hiring leaders across departments as a strategic advisor.
  • Continually help improve, evolve, and scale our hiring best practices.
  • Understand KDA, Inc.’s business strategy and competitive positioning.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and material.
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional and mature manner.
  • Experience working with compensation structures is beneficial.
