Description

ABCD operates two Alternative Education High Schools in partnership with the Boston Public Schools: the William J. Ostiguy High School and University High School. The William J. Ostiguy High School provides a safe and supportive school environment for youth who have committed to changing their relationship with drugs and alcohol. University High School is designed for students who are economically disadvantaged, struggling academically, or otherwise at risk in the traditional school system. Both schools provide the support needed for students to earn their high school diploma and pursue further education. Join us as a School Operations Coordinator in creating a supportive and enriching environment for our youth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinates school activities related to daily operations, case management, outreach, intake, and logistics.
  • Orients new students to the program and assists them in their transition to the high schools.
  • Assists in managing attendance policies, procedures, and documentation. 
  • Cultivates and coordinates pathway opportunities and partnerships including facilitating check-in with supervisors and independent study with students. 
  • Coordinates all mentors, tutors, and volunteers.
  • Coordinates and oversees the intake process, including outreach. 
  • Coordinates and oversees yearly events and academic activities such as portfolio reviews and graduation ceremonies.
  • Assists in the collection and maintenance of all statistical data, assessment data, and eligibility documentation. 
  • Conducts appropriate support workshops for the diverse consumer and collaterals of the high school.
  • Oversees the maintenance of counseling records, guidance records, record-related assessment data, and individual Service Strategies.
  • Assists in grant writing for the development and implementation of programs.
  • Assists the counseling team in case conference activity.
  • Actively participates in and attends required meetings and/or trainings on and off-site.
  • Acts as an integral part of the staff advocating for student needs in the proposals of new policy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned from time to time. 
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field with one to three years of related management experience is required.
  • A Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Must have an unwavering belief in youth and their potential.
  • Strong computer skills especially in Microsoft Applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with close attention to detail. 
  • Ability to attend and participate in community activities, trainings, and meetings with the flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
