Position: Senior Director, Strategy & Impact, Strengthening Economic Resilience & Democracies

Reports to: Chief of Staff

Scope: This full-time, exempt role based in Washington, D.C., provides strategic leadership to strengthen economic resilience and democracies worldwide. The role involves leveraging the private sector to fight corruption, uphold ethical standards, promote accountable investments, and support democratic institutions through public-private dialogue and transparency initiatives.

The candidate will oversee the portfolio and budget, develop strategic goals, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and serve as the public face of this initiative through publications, events, and fundraising efforts. Responsibilities include program development, technical guidance, stakeholder engagement, capacity building, policy advocacy, and external representation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to expand economic resilience and democracy globally.
  • Lead thematic program design aligned with organizational goals and compliance.
  • Provide guidance on strategic priorities related to private sector engagement in democracy and anti-corruption efforts.
  • Engage with governments, NGOs, private sector, and international organizations to promote democratic initiatives and secure funding.
  • Mentor teams and promote best practices in strategic approaches.
  • Support research and policy recommendations to strengthen private sector involvement in democratic institutions.
  • Represent CIPE externally in discussions, publications, and events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in International Relations, Economic Development, or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in international development or related fields.
  • Experience with economic freedoms, private sector engagement, and democratic strengthening.
  • Strong leadership, relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in other languages a plus.
  • Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Additional Details:

  • Anticipated hours: 40/week
  • Travel: 10-25%; domestic and international
  • U.S. work authorization required

Salary Range: $208,000 - $251,000
