The firm works primarily with clients in the construction, legal, and insurance sectors, specializing in initial design and re-design of properties, forensic engineering, and construction management. Our practice aims to reduce risks in the design, specification of materials, and final construction to prevent potential litigation. Job Title: Senior Forensic Engineer Department: Engineering Technical Services Location: Jacksonville, Florida We are seeking experienced Senior Forensic Engineers to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. Our practice is recognized for forensic expert witness and testimony in cases involving construction defects, premises liability, storm damage, and site safety litigation. Responsibilities: Perform structural assessments, design compliance reports, notice of claim reports, and building envelope investigations for commercial and residential buildings. Lead investigations into structural and building envelope issues, analyzing residential and commercial properties. Act as team lead on 5-10 active projects, coordinate tasks, support clients, and mentor team members. Conduct forensic field investigations to determine causes of property damage and defects. Prepare scopes for repairs and design documents for structural repairs. Review standards of care related to design and construction practices. Communicate technical findings clearly to varied audiences, including clients and legal professionals. Prepare accurate, clear, and defensible reports. Manage multiple projects, communicate with clients, and provide expert testimony as needed. Manage time and deadlines independently. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. 5-10 years of experience in structural engineering and construction administration. Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer license in one or more states. Experience with forensic engineering related to residential and/or commercial structures. Comfortable with client interactions and court testimony. Strong knowledge of IRC, IBC, and IEBC codes. Physical Capabilities: Ability to perform field observations in elevated, confined, or exposed conditions. Ability to sit for extended periods and lift/carry up to 50 pounds. Why join Charles Taylor?
