LOCATION: On-site, Bellingham, WA

SALARY RANGE: $130,000-$160,000/year based on experience & qualifications

JOB SUMMARY :

The Senior Scientist will play a critical role in advancing Tidal Grow AgriScience`s Research&Development pipeline. This position requires deep expertise in agricultural sciences, product development, and technology scale-up, as well as the leadership skills to guide teams and collaborate across functions. The Senior Scientist will lead product concept initiation, improvement of existing products, research trial design and execution, and product life cycle assessments. This role blends scientific rigor with commercial awareness, translating cutting-edge research into practical, sustainable solutions that strengthen both grower outcomes and company growth.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

• Lead innovation and product concept development, including improvements to existing product lines.
• Drive technology development, scale-up and translation from laboratory research to commercial application.
• Provide scientific and strategic recommendations to leadership, management, and stakeholders.
• Design, manage, and analyze field and greenhouse trials, delivering data-driven insights.
• Mentor and lead cross-functional R&D teams.
• Conduct product life cycle assessments from discovery through commercialization.
• Collaborate with regulatory, product development, and business teams to align science with market and customer needs.
• Apply computational R&D and advanced statistical analysis to optimize performance.
• Prepare and submit research proposals; represent Tidal Grow AgriScience with partners, institutions, and industry stakeholders.
• Utilizing your experience, you will provide input to the PD and CAS Teams regarding customer needs and ensure product and offer innovation matches the strategy for each account.
• Generally representing the mission, vision, and values of Tidal Grow AgriScience with customers and other stakeholders.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Masters degree or Ph.D. in Agricultural Science, Plant Science, Chemistry, Chemical Sciences, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of proven R&D experience in agriculture, fertilizers, pesticides, or related industries, with expertise in product development, technology scale-up, and computational R&D.
• Hands-on experience working with biopolymers, particularly chitosan, in developing agricultural inputs, coatings, and controlled-release formulations.
• Strong knowledge of ag industry products, applications, and regulations.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience inspiring, mentoring, and motivating teams.
• Excellent communication, proposal writing, and relationship management skills.
• Proven track record of delivering scientific and commercial outcomes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Deep understanding of crop production, regenerative practices, sustainability, and market trends.
• Strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
• Negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Position is based on-site in Bellingham, WA. Some travel may be required for research trials, conferences, or partner engagement. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, smell, visually inspect materials, walk, etc., and sometimes needs to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds while working around crop protection products. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
