Senior Software Engineer  

Our team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our group. We use quick iteration and regular feedback cycles to prototype for customers, both internal and external, to provide Insights, backed with a sophisticated data architecture, that accelerate the flow of work from experimentation to development to production. 

A Senior Software Engineer is expected to respond tactfully to Product and Engineering requirements, guided by a deep understanding of full-stack software development, database architecture and technologies, engineering automation pipelines and orchestration technology. They should also have experience utilizing agile development processes, driven in close collaborate with Design teams. The position requires fundamental experience building backend technologies, services, and APIs that help scale, accelerate, and optimize user access to insights workflows and data products; ideally, this engineer also has familiarity with front-end development stacks.

Requirements/Skills  

Our team’s minimum requirements for this position:  

• Must be a U.S. Person. 

• 5+ years of development experience, including backend, frontend, data engineering, and/or DevOps. 

• Advanced programming skills, specifically in Python; 

• Recent experience with the following technologies: 

• Relational database technology like PostgresSQL and/or Postgis, 

• Orchestration and deployment infrastructure like Kubernetes & Docker, 

• Query language tools for APIs like FastAPI, or other relevant tools 

• Cloud technologies like AWS or Azure 

• Object Oriented Programming methodologies, 

• GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket, or any other Git to world’s most advanced constellation of satellites to deliver critical geospatial intelligence to its customers. We are seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Insights Experiences team. While the preferred candidate will b ols. 

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, (e.g., Computer Science, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, etc.), or equivalent experience. 

Our team’s preferred requirements for this position: 

• Experience with the following technologies / languages / skills: 

• Backend programming in Java; 

• Frontend programming in Vue; 

• Apache Spark, and/or other large-scale data processing engines; 

• Familiarity with engineering geospatial datasets; 

• Experience doing automated deployment, scaling, and monitoring of cloud-based infrastructure using tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform. 

• Experience implementing and enforcing best practices for security and compliance. 

If you also had these skills that’d be amazing:  

• Knowledge of design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines for our software projects. 

• Understanding of Agile methodologies, specifically frequent, iterative releases which rely on user feedback to refine features over time, 

• Experience using machine learning development frameworks, remote sensing, and machine learning operations technologies like: 

• PyTorch; 

• Geospatial data and/or remote sensing tools like GDAL and rasterio; 

• Terraform with Helm, or other infrastructure-as-code tools.

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market within California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, and Washington:

$107,000.00 - $229,000.00 annually.

Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
