Job Description

Sheet Metal Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanic with extensive experience in commercial and naval sheet metal work. Experience in the installation of foundations, ventilation systems, bulkheads, shipboard furniture, and sheet metal fabrication. This role requires a deep understanding of complex assembly drawings and blueprints, as well as the ability to work in a physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Comprehend and interpret complex ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, including weld symbols, material types, datum, and reference lines.
  • Understand and use fractional and decimal dimensions with rulers.
  • Layoff piece parts for fabrication and assembly.
  • Assemble piece parts according to specifications, ensuring high quality.
  • Operate small hand tools and shop equipment, such as electric drills, grinders, rivet guns, drill press, and press break.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry.

Essential Skills:

  • Four years of commercial/naval sheet metal experience as a first-class Sheet Metal Worker.
  • Proficiency in comprehending complex ventilation assembly drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience in the installation of foundations, ventilation systems, bulkheads, and shipboard furniture.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations in the shipbuilding industry.

Job Type & Location:

This is a contract position based out of Nashville, TN.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $27.31/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
