The Opportunity

The Baltimore Regional Housing Partnership (BRHP), which operates the Baltimore Housing Mobility Program, is a 501(c)(3) that assists over 4,000 qualified families in moving from areas of concentrated poverty and obtaining quality and affordable housing in communities with strong schools, low crime, and ample job opportunities in high opportunity areas within Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, and Howard Counties.

BRHP is seeking a Staff Accountant who is aligned with the mission above and experienced in nonprofit and government financial operations, while overseeing specific financial transactions for the organization. The Staff Accountant will report to the Finance Director and the Deputy Finance Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist with monthly payment process of approximately $7 million.
  2. Prepare Voucher Management System (VMS) financial and unit reporting to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
  3. Manage vendor setup and process changes to existing vendor details.
  4. Manage deposit handling and transaction recording in the accounting system.
  5. Manage repayment agreement transactions.
  6. Provide staff support to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.
  7. Assist with the yearly financial and single audits and tax returns.
  8. Assist with special projects.
  9. Provide support to the Finance Operations Director & Deputy and the Executive Director.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelors degree in accounting or finance required.
  2. 1-2 years of experience in financial operations of a nonprofit organization that receives federal funds.
  3. Advanced knowledge of financial management and internal controls.
  4. Adept with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Familiarity with Yardi database.
  2. Experience processing Accounts Payable.
  3. Familiarity with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Developments Voucher Management System (VMS).

Job Type: Full-time, Exempt Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm

Salary: $60,000-$65,000 annually.
