Position Summary

We are seeking a  Staff Accountant to join our team and support the accounting functions for both  Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of Havre de Grace and  Cornett Transportation . This role plays an integral part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely month-end closings, and supporting business decisions through reliable reporting and analysis.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working across multiple business entities in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain general ledger for Cornett Transportation.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations, run aging reports to collect on past due invoices for both entities.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes and reporting packages.
  • Perform accounts receivable functions, ensuring proper coding and timely posting.
  • Monitor and reconcile intercompany balances and shared expenses between entities.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Support external audits by providing schedules, documentation, and explanations.
  • Analyze variances and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and accuracy.
  • Participate in ongoing process improvements within the accounting function.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger structure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, or similar).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Compensation

Salary Range: $65,000 – $70,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
