Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify Lucrative Bidding Prospects: Research and discover potential projects in our target markets to ensure profitable business opportunities.
  • Evaluate Project Requirements: Analyze and interpret project documents, specifications, and on-site conditions to develop precise cost assessments.
  • Determine Key Metrics & Costs: Leverage the right measurements, software, and methodologies to create reliable estimates that remain both competitive and profitable.
  • Conduct Risk Analyses: Proactively pinpoint potential risks and incorporate contingency plans into each bid.
  • Prepare Detailed Bid Packages: Assemble clear, accurate, and well-supported bid proposals for internal review and timely submission to clients.
  • Select Subcontractors & Suppliers: Collaborate with vetted subcontractors and suppliers to integrate their pricing into cohesive project bids.
  • Cultivate Customer & Vendor Relationships: Serve as a trusted partner to clients, while maintaining strong ties with architects, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Maintain a Robust Sales Funnel: Submit bids totaling $1–$3 million weekly, follow up consistently, and track progress until contract award.
  • Monitor Handoffs & Project Progress: Once contracts are won, effectively transition projects to the assigned Project Manager and stay informed of overall performance.
  • Report & Communicate: Provide timely, data-backed updates to company leadership regarding estimate pipelines, bid statuses, and sales metrics.
  • Achieve Profitability Goals: Work to ensure all awarded projects meet or exceed Golden Construction’s gross profit targets.

Qualifications & Expertise

  • 10+ Years of Estimating Experience: Proven history in steel and/or concrete estimating for commercial or government projects.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to coordinate with both internal teams and external stakeholders, creating clarity and building trust.
  • Detail-Oriented Decision Maker: Skilled at managing extensive project data, with a keen eye for precision and accuracy.
  • Broad Construction Knowledge: Basic understanding of project management and accounting principles to complement estimation work.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Bluebeam, Excel, QuickBooks, and other relevant estimating software.
  • Analytical & Research Abilities: Comfortable dissecting and interpreting data to form evidence-based estimates.
  • Preferred Credentials: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction science, or related fields; CPE (Certified Professional Estimator) is a plus.
