Whether catering professional corporate conferences to upscale weddings, the POPStars at Carter Presidential Center will host it all! Join our reputable Carter Presidential Center team as a Steward! We are seeking stewards to join our culinary team. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability, physical demands, and work environment associated with this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive. Performs other related duties, as required. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains a clean kitchen, properly washes, and sorts soiled dishes, and preps foods as needed. Keeps dish area free of clutter and organized. Sets up dish stations, including dish machines and sinks. Assist with set-up and breakdown of all Banquet buffets. Facilitating all plate-up and delivery of all food the prospective functions Maintains clean / dry floors throughout the shift. Properly washes, stacks, and stores China, glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers. Changes water of machines and sinks every two hours, or more often as required by business levels, and properly uses chemical dilutions set by EcoLab. Assists in the timely storing of food deliveries. Maintains trash cans throughout shift and removes full trashcans and boxes at the end of each shift. Maintains the dry storage area and the organization of storage shelves. Assist with maintaining and organizing the China room and warehouse. Follows the posted daily dish cleaning duties. Assists in food prep and any other duties set forth or requested by the chef as needed. Performs other related duties as needed. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience 1+ year of experience working in a kitchen or as a steward is preferred, experience in customer service role is preferred. High school diploma of GED ServSafe Certified preferred. Specialized Qualifications: Planning and multi-tasking Self-motivated with a high energy level Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays. Ability to follow directions and work in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Must be a phenomenal team-player and self-motivated with a high energy level. Work Environment This position will spend majority of time in the carter Presidential Center kitchen and dish pit area where there will be hot water, chemicals, and typical kitchen equipment and utensils. Uniform Requirements Adherence to Company Uniform Requirements outlined in the Associate Handbook, uniform requirements outlined in your orientation guidelines. Non-slip shoes are necessary. Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of moving through kitchen, coolers, and storage spaces , and traveling to different venues across greater Atlanta Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives. Physical endurance to work long shifts in a busy environment. Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items Ability to perform physical tasks; such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 40 lbs.
