Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will design, analyze, and oversee the construction of residential, light commercial, and light industrial structures. Your expertise will ensure safety, functionality, and sustainability across a wide range of projects.
This position requires a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with at least 5 years of proven experience. The ideal candidate can hit the ground running with no training required, while also thriving as a collaborative team player who communicates effectively and contributes positively to the work environment.
While this role is primarily remote, candidates must reside in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and be available for occasional in-person meetings and site visits, including to our Ennis office.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform structural design for wood, concrete, and steel systems.
* Develop shear wall layouts and conduct lateral load analysis.
* Design foundations, including slab-on-grade, reinforced concrete with rebar, and post-tension systems.
* Develop pier and beam foundation designs.
* Prepare structural analysis and calculations, including FEA where applicable.
* Produce technical documentation: calculations, drawings, reports, specifications, and proposals.
* Use CAD and modeling software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and structural analysis tools (RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, Mathcad).
* Collaborate closely with project managers, drafters, architects, and fellow engineers to meet deadlines and ensure constructability.
* Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
* Conduct occasional site visits in the DFW area and to our Ennis office.
* Ensure compliance with building codes, standards, and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
* Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas (required).
* Must be based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area (occasional site visits/meetings required).
* 5+ years of professional experience in structural engineering.
* Proven expertise in:
* Wood framing design
* Steel design (beams, columns, connections, frames)
* Shear wall layout and analysis
* Foundation design (rebar and post-tension)
* Pier and beam design
* Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
* Professional attitude with a focus on collaboration, accountability, and shared success.
* Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while supporting team objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* Residential and commercial design experience in Texas.
* Experience with project management tools and multi-project coordination.
* Familiarity with geotechnical assessments and GIS for site planning.
* Strong technical writing skills for reports and client documentation.
