**Job Title: Structural Fitter/Welder** **$45 & $140 in per diem.** **This position is located in Newport News, Virginia** **Job Description** We are seeking an experienced Structural Fitter with a minimum of four years of commercial or naval experience as a first-class Shipfitter The ideal candidate will have extensive skills in single pass tack welding, burning, heating, and the ability to read and comprehend complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches. **Responsibilities:** + Perform multi-pass tack welding using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process. + Operate burning and heating equipment, specifically oxygen/propane burning torches. + Interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, including weld symbols, material types, datum, and reference lines. + Comprehend fractional dimensions using a ruler and lay off piece parts for fabrication and assembly. + Assemble structural piece parts according to specifications with high-quality standards. + Work effectively in physically demanding environments such as shipbuilding or steel fabrication. + Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations relevant to the shipbuilding industry. + Utilize vibratory tools including grinders and needle guns. **Essential Skills:** + Single & Multi Pass Tack Welding + Burning using Oxygen/Propane Burning Torch + Heating using Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch + Ability to read and interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches + Ability to comprehend fractional dimensions using a ruler + Ability to lay off piece parts for fabrication and assembly **Position is located in Newport News, Virginia.** **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
