POSITION: Seasonal/Temps (Dec-Mar) CDL Drivers

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor

LOCATION: New York Stewart International Airport (SWF)

Functions:

Perform maintenance and repair of roads, aprons, taxiways, runways, drainage systems, fencing and related Airport facilities and structures. Essential characteristics of the position is the ability to operate mobile equipment proficiently and perform journeyman or near journeyman level work of other journeyman level and lower rated personnel in maintenance, repair or snow removal activities.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for completing all assigned tasks with minimal supervision in a professional manner. High Quality and Efficient customer service are of critical importance.

• Must be proficient in the operation of construction equipment such as backhoe, bulldozer, front-end loaders. Operate all major snow removal and ice control techniques and equipment.

• Perform a wide variety of maintenance duties such as moving equipment and machinery, mowing and cutting of grass and trees, specialized joint cleaning and filling, repairing fences.

• Participate in placing or repositioning of scaffolding and rigging during repairs, painting, and overhauling or construction projects.

• Inspect tools and equipment on a regular basis to ensure the safety of self and others. If applicable, perform preventive maintenance on equipment and tools associated with assigned tasks.

• Assist other work centers when necessary to ensure timely completion of work projects.

• May perform a wide variety of other tasks that are necessary to maintain Airport facilities and grounds.

• May be required to work both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather and frequently at high elevations. May be exposed to hazards of the trade.

• May be required to work rotating shifts and/or overtime.

• Part of Snow Removal Team. Assist in snow removal, ice control, and sanding/salting, as required to ensure safe operation of the Airport.

• Perform all other Airport related duties as required.

• Must follow all Airport, Company, and FAA security regulations.

• Responsible for keeping all tools, equipment and materials secured and stored in a safe manner when not in use.

• Must follow all Airport, Company, and OSHA safety regulations, including, but not exclusive too, Ladder/Scaffold safety, Fall Protection safety, Confined Space Entry safety, Lockout/Tagout safety, and Pesticide handling/application safety.

Education and Experience Required:

Graduation from a 4-year High School or Vocational School is preferred. Knowledge of hand and power tools and an equipment operator background a must. Possess 3 years experience of progressively and responsible related skill. Must have New York State Motor Vehicle Class B drivers’ license as a condition of employment.
